Aledo, Texas (June 2, 2025) – Thanks to the generosity of members and employees, Tri-County Electric Charitable Foundation’s Cooperative Giving Program is now lending a hand to members facing financial hardship.
Earlier today, the Tri-County Electric Charitable Foundation presented Texas Neighborhood Services (TNS) with a $25,000 check, the funds of which will be administered by TNS to members in need of electric bill assistance.
“There is no community like the one that makes up Tri-County Electric,” said Scott Spence, TCEC president and CEO. “This program would not be possible without the donations that cooperative members and employees choose to make. This will make a difference in the lives of those who need it.”
Members can now apply for bill assistance through TNS at txns.org/forms/ and clicking on the 2025 Tri-County Cooperative Giving Application link while funds last. Donations of any size are also still being accepted by Cooperative Giving, run through the Tri-County Electric Charitable Foundation, and can be made in several ways, including rounding up electric bills to the nearest dollar.
“Thank you to all TCEC community members who have generously chosen to donate, including participants in the Round Up for Cooperative Giving program,” said Donyea Walley, TCEC cooperative relations administrator. “By enrolling, a member’s $100.50 bill, for example, would round up to $101, resulting in a 50-cent donation to Cooperative Giving. If 10,000 members did that, it would equal an additional $5,000 in donations. It is one of the easiest ways to help members who are struggling.”
The Tri-County Electric Charitable Foundation is now a 501(c)(3) organization, meaning that all donations are tax-deductible. The Foundation is also financially independent from TCEC. No contributions come from members’ electric bills unless a member requests to donate.
“We are happy to work with Tri-County Electric’s Cooperative Giving program to aid members who need one-time assistance. We’ve worked with other coops on programs just like this one and seen firsthand how effective the program can be,” said Bradley Manning, TNS Executive Director.
