Youth Programs

Tri-County Electric Cooperative values the youth in our communities and in 2019 we are offering two amazing opportunities for our young members. The Youth Tour and Scholarship programs were established to encourage and assist in the educational pursuits of our young members.

Youth Tour

Tri-County Electric Cooperative is sending six high school students on an all-expense-paid trip to our Nation’s Capital to tour national historic sites, meet US congressional representatives, gain leadership experience and learn about the electric cooperative industry.

Senator Lyndon B. Johnson initiated the Government In-Action Youth Tour in 1964 so young people in rural areas could “see what the flag stands for and represents.” Over 50 years later, the Youth Tour stands true to the cooperative spirit. Participants are able to interact with other Youth Tour participants from across the state and our nation.

We are actively searching for the area’s best students to represent Tri-County Electric Cooperative on the 2019 Youth Tour. Participants will receive a $2,000 scholarship for higher education or trade school.

 Eligible applicants must:

  • Be a current sophomore or junior in high school
  • Reside in a home serviced by Tri-County Electric Cooperative
  • Submit a completed application packet by 5:00 pm Friday, January 25, 2019
