Position Summary


Tri-County Electric Cooperative, Inc. is looking for the best candidate to fill a Distribution Engineer position.  The exact position will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience as it pertains to the Distribution Engineer Description levels 1 through 4.

This position will be responsible for engineering and planning for the Tri-County distribution system.


Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position,

Including but not limited to:

  • Perform distribution designs for new subdivisions
  • Analyze data for capital construction needs and make recommendations for solutions
  • Perform modeling work, including the upkeep of the distribution model
  • Perform coordination studies from the substation feeder level down
  • Assist with the development of device and equipment standards
  • Working knowledge of NESC and NEC standards (preferred)


Position Requirements

  • Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electrical Preferred.

  • License

Valid Texas driver’s license or the ability to receive a Texas driver’s license

Professional Engineer registration in Texas desirable

  • Demonstrated knowledge

demonstrable abilities in planning and system protection

leadership and mentoring skills (preferred)


Abilities and Skills

  • Analytical Skills – Ability to apply critical thinking to design challenges
  • Coordinating Skills – Ability to maintain a timely schedule between multiple assignments
  • Computer Skills – Strong knowledge of staking, CAD, and modeling software.  Futura, MicroStation and Millsoft experience preferred.
  • Communication Skills – Excellent written and speaking skills


Physical Demands

  • Physical demands are limited to occasional lifting, and walking on uneven ground
